Aloha Celebration

We're celebrating Greg's birthday and Mother's Day and our anniversary on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, this year. After last year's cruise through the Hawaiian islands we realized we hadn't seen all that Waikiki, Honolulu, and Oahu have to offer. So we pulled together all the frequent flyer miles, hotel discount points, and every other coupon and deal we could round up to get back here for another week's vacation.

The wonderful view from the balcony of our 31st-floor room at the Hilton Hawaiian Village was enough to overcome Kitty's nervousness at being this high up, and we've enjoyed breakfast each morning watching the waves and surfers, the clouds and rainbows, and the ships come and go. During the day we've walked Waikiki Beach, driven around the island (twice), shopped the Aloha Flea Market for souvenirs, and spent a day at the Polynesian Cultural Center. And just soaked up the sun, sand, surf, and beautiful scenery.

Evenings are spent enjoying dinners from pizza or shrimp to cook-it-yourself steaks, to very enjoyable luaus, to an outstanding anniversary celebration at the Ocean House. Then there’s the almost nightly walk down the beach to Starbucks for a late night refreshment and some internet time. Friday night fireworks on the beach. And always, always, a sunset to just sit together and enjoy.
