Smooth Sailin'

In between weekends with Joseph, Ruth, Kristy, and Cameron, the Carnival Inspiration took us on a 5-night cruise from Tampa to Grand Cayman island and Cozumel, Mexico. The blue sky was sunny and clear, the indigo water smooth and warm, the sunrises and sunsets beautiful, and the ports quite enjoyable. We were a little apprehensive about taking a Carnival cruise, but our time on the Inspiration surprised us and we were able to have some fun and get some rest and relaxation. The ship, the food, the entertainment, and our stateroom all exceeded our expectations.

The highlight of this trip had to be the time at Stingray City in Grand Cayman. To be surrounded by these large, strong, and graceful creatures was a bit intimidating at first, but as you can see we quickly got used to them. Kitty even gave one a kiss! At Cozumel we again took the ferry to the Mexican mainland and spent the day at Xcaret eco-park. It was as much fun as last year!

Where we went ... sail-away celebration ... under the Skyway Bridge
Interesting decor ... tender at Grand Cayman ... Turtle Farm
Fresh coconut ... the scenery at "Hell" ... approaching Stingray City
Enjoying Stingray City
Dinner companions ... nighttime atrium neon ... the Cozumel pier
Xcaret eco-park ... Kitty relaxing ... sunset on the Gulf

Happy 1st Birthday, Joseph

What a blessing for us to spend the weekend at Joseph's 1st birthday party in Tampa with Ruth, Kristy, Cameron, some of his family, and 60 of Joseph's closest friends from church and the neighborhood. So much fun, joy, laughter, food, and wonderful people to celebrate with!! To say that Joseph enjoyed the party anf being the center of attention is a huge understatement. These are just a few moments from the day; many more are on the Greenhaw's blog here.

And after the party it's time to just relax in the pool ...

... or on your laptop.

Being Red in a Sea of Blue

While in LA on business this week, Greg and a co-worker managed to squeeze in an evening at Dodger Stadium - hey, the Cardinals were in town! Of course they wore Cardinal red and St. Louis ball caps. It was fun getting heckled (politely) and hearing our cheers drowned out by the boos for Pujols and the Redbirds. The Dodgers won (this time) but it was a great experience to be in an "enemy" ballpark. Maybe we'll be back for a post-season game.

Added Oct 11 - sadly, this game was a foreshadow of things to come as the Dodgers swept our beloved Cardinals out of the first round of postseason play. But just wait 'til next year!!
