A little cold didn't keep us away from the ballpark in April, and a little heat didn't keep us from enjoying two games in the past two weeks. It was in the upper 90s last week as we watched our first Cardinals-Cubs game after all these years living in St. Louis. Boy, did we pick the right night to go! After losing the first two games of the series, the Cards exploded for 11 runs on several homers. We were having such a good time razzing the Cubs fans we didn't even notice the humidity (well, hardly).
This week it was the San Diego Padres in town, and we were there when the Cards tied a baseball record in the 5th inning scoring 10 runs on 10 consecutive hits (okay, there was a walk in the middle). It was near 100-degrees at game time, but we moved to seats where there was a bit of a breeze and we just kept the cold drinks flowing, so it wasn't bad at all! Any evening at the ballpark is fun when your team wins!
Let's play ... three?!? The Cards and Cubs have a couple of make-up games to get in before the end of the year, and according to the ESPN website baseball schedule they'll play not one, not two, but three games on Sept 14th - a very rare triple-header! Followed the next day by a double-header!
The schedule's been fixed, but for awhile it was fun to dream of spending a really full couple of days at the ballpark!
